Welcome!
You have stumbled across a strange and exciting (at least, it is to some people) blog about all the strange pieces of clothing you can find lying around. You have found SOCK-ON-A-WALL.
To set up the story as to why this blog exists, let me explain!
I moved to Milwaukee in August of 2009. Immediately it struck me as a unique and lively city, but one of the strangest things about it was all the random clothing I found around. Perhaps I just never noticed it before in other cities I've lived and worked in, but it seemed more prominent in Milwaukee then everywhere else! So, I finally started collecting pictures. There's no professionalism in the photos so they can be taken with a basic digital camera or a camera phone.
So far, my boyfriend Troy and I, have collected many pictures. There are a few rules we observe.
* Do NOT touch the clothing. The pictures resemble how we found the clothing. It's part of the fun of the photo!
* Leave the clothing where it is. Eventually, it disappears. We like to think it finds a happy home.
* Keep an open eye. Some things are found up or sideways, not always down.
The photo that inspired this idea is my infamous, Sock-On-A-Wall. (See above) This was found while I was leaving my apartment building and it made me smile all day. Sure! There are reasonable explanations as to how and why the clothing is found the way it is, but I think it sparks imagination, something we should continue to push for. So please, enjoy!
I've been photographing lost socks for a while. I have found one in a fence and one on a pole. See here:
